Anglo-Indian National Youth Meet 2018, Patna

Dear Bangalore Members!
Over the last weekend over 160 young people from branches across India congregated at Patna to participate in the National Youth Meet organized by the All-India Anglo-Indian Association in co-ordination with the All-India Anglo-Indian Education Institutions . We are seeing a resurgence of our community through our youth and the President-In-Chief has personally directed all branches to initiate an Anglo-Indian youth movement across India. Below are some highlights of the event and photographs as well
The main event was held at St. Dominic Savio high school and accommodation for the delegates was arranged at Don Bosco high School
The event had about 160 delegates from 22 branches
The Bangalore branch had two delegates Katelyn Nazareth and Trisha Reghelini who represented us
It was wonderful to see participation from small branches such as Deolali and Igatpuri and Villupuram-Pondy. Delegates also came from Chennai, Trichy, Kochi, Nagpur, Vizag, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Lucknow and a huge contingent from Kolkatta, plus many more
The meet had several events in career counselling, mock interviews, group discussions, sports competitions, talent competitions, motivational sessions etc. The Saturday evening events wrapped up with a pool side party and the penultimate day things came to a close with a fashion show, prize distribution and grand ball
Mr. Clive VanBuerle conducted a technical discussion related to Next Generation competencies for all the youth participants that was an informative session and had the audience eagerly involved
Sunday began with a celebration of the holy mass. The P-I-C, Barry O’Brien then moderated a wonderful discussion around overcoming odds and being successful in one’s future. Jharkhand MLA and owner of Dominic Savio High School, Glen Galstun, Russell Vanbuerle, famous Tattoo Artist and Clive VanBuerle, Global Head of a large product technology company in Bangalore were invited to share their life journeys as well.
The P-I-C also conducted a wonderful session on improving participant’s public speaking skills and the audience witnessed transformations happen in front of their eyes
The final ball actually wound up at 5:00 am in the morning! It was an amazing all night party with absolutely no liquor (Bihar is a dry state)
During the penultimate vote of thanks P-I-C, Barry O’Brien along with Governing body members Mr Rudy Woodman and Mr Oscar Nigli announced that the focus was to build on the youth momentum gained through the NYM 1&2 and besides announcing Mr Eric DRosario as the AIAIA Youth President for 2018-19 a broader team of Mentors, VP’s and other management positions were also announced
The meet was amazing and such a wonderful opportunity to meet, network and make friends from AI’s across the country and the youth members who participated had an experience of a lifetime
It was also amazing to hear and experience stories of sacrifices, about Anglo-Indian kids from less fortunate backgrounds, about orphan AI children who were taken care of by wonderful schools like the Barnes and Bishop schools – of some boys that are national level boxers, basketball players and national MMA fighters and young girls studying engineering, pursuing PhD’s and so much more. The Anglo-Indian youth at the meet busted the myth that the community was dwindling- we are alive and winning! Most youth delegates were achievers and champions and represent the future of the community
Our Anglo Indian schools are doing wonderful work supporting young people with education especially the Frank Anthony Public Schools.
Please like, share and comment if you think the Bangalore Branch should also join the youth movement and if you are willing to join the initiative.
